I received a letter from Memaw Friday that included an ad for rental property on Beech Mt. ($848.00 pr month for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath) and the birthday picture of Jason that the paper had run. Said she is going "all over Boone" now and sounded like she is doing well. I guess today is the big moving day and I know we're all excited for her.

Meemaw has decided not to move into the apartment. She found a trailer closer to us that she liked better. It's unfurnished (except for appliances and washer/dryer). We'll have to make another trip to get some more of her things, but I think she is going to buy a couch at the thrift store or Big Lot's. We have a full bed she can use, so she'll have some stuff here. That's the latest.

After talking to Meemaw and Jason last night, the trailer seems like alot better choice. It is similar to what she left on Buck Creek, according to Jason, but is about 2 miles from them on that end of town, nice older neighborhood, across the driveway from a widow lady. She will have her own kitchen and no steps!!

AMENDED COMMENT

She seems really happy about it. It's a little grungy on the outside but that's due to not being occupied for a bit. I spoke to the owner and he will have it pressure washed. It's not necessarily what I would have ultimately chosen for her but the inside is nice; it's got good heat, more spacious than her old one. Once she gets some of her things in it, it will be pretty charming. There is a doctor's widow directly next door to her so maybe they will bond.

Locationwise, it's in a nice part of town — almost rural in fact. Some of you remember where we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway a few years ago. This house is about 1.5 miles from that — maybe three miles from our house.

She seems genuinely excited and happy to be on her own. After she looked at it, I could tell her "pep" level went way up.

I think we have decided on Oct. 12 as the move date for the Kingston stuff. We need someone to drive a UHaul up here and someone else to drive them back.

Or, Meemaw said she could rent that person a car to drive back (but I think all of us could pitch in on that). She was thinking Joel I think but it doesn't matter.

That weekend in October will not work for most of us. Judy, Joel and I will be going to Keeneland that weekend. It has been planned for about 3 months, reservations made, etc. Is there another weekend that will work?
What kind of stuff is she wanting to move in u-haul?
